Tankless Water Heaters

With the majority of homes in California still using tank water heaters, it is important to note that transitioning to tankless may require some additional upgrades. Depending on the model of tankless water heater you choose, you may need to complete upgrades to your gas lines or electrical system. Different models of tankless systems utilize either gas or electricity for their heating element.

While tankless water heaters carry a sticker price that does not vary greatly from tank water heaters, installing a tankless system is likely to cost you a bit more. Given that additional upgrades may be needed to support a tankless system, you must factor in the costs of retrofitting your gas lines or electric system and the required manual labor.

While tankless systems are great at providing on-demand hot water, they have limitations on the amount they can produce at any one time, which is indicated by each system’s flow rate. This issue typically occurs when multiple sources are drawing hot water. For instance, if multiple showers are running, a system with a lower flow rate may not keep up with the demand.
